All of you like automobiles and feels happier while riding
but do you know the how the power is managed by the vehicle. Here is the
explanation and I bet most of you don’t know about it.
The power generating part of the vehicle is its engine. It
supplies all the power required to derive the vehicle. But do you know that the
energy supplied by the engine is at 3000 rpm which is too high and need to be
reduced before supplying it to the wheels?
The transmission gears and shafts are the key elements in the transmission system which
helps in reducing the speed of rotation along with an increase in torque. The
transmission gears help in reducing gear ratio through the variation in gear
size and helps the vehicle to achieve high initial acceleration. The gears used
to perform such action are mainly helical or spur gears.
The transmission gears and shafts is a long circular rod containing
universal joints to supply energy from the gearbox to differential located at
some angle. The availability of the universal joint helps in supplying power at
different angles. Thus, the whole assembly helps in reducing rpm generated by
the engine and increasing torque for better starting speed.
