Transmission is nothing but a machine which provides
controlled application of the power in a power system. It is often called as
gearbox, gears provide speed and torque. Gearbox or Transmission gears and shafts have various applications. They are used in wind
turbines, agriculture, mining, and in various other industries. The speed of
the transmission system varies due
to multiple gear ratios used in it. The
most common use is in motor vehicles in which internal combustion and transmission
system works hand in hand. Transmissions can also be used in pedal bicycles
where different torques is adapted.
A Transmission gears and shafts is used to transfer power from one part to another. Simply, it transfers the
power from a machine which generates power to a machine which absorbs power. A gears and Shaft is a rotating machine element and
comes in circular cross-section. Pulleys and Transmission gears and shafts are mounted on the shafts. It is generally made from mild
steel. When you need high strength, you can add nickel, nickel-chromium, and chromium-vanadium
steel. Shafts are classified into two types namely Transmission Shaft and
Machine Shafts. To form a shaft, you need to hot roll the material and then
cold draw or turn it for the finishing.
