A transmission is a modern system for transmitting
power which offers monitored application of power. Many times, the world
transmission is used simply to denote the gearbox for providing torque and
speed conversions from one power source that is rotating to another one of a
similar type. Transmission for commercial vehicles is the most widely practiced use of a transmission. In
motor vehicles, the combustion engine’s output is adapted by the transmission
for driving wheels. Such engines can operate at high speeds of rotation
compared to other ones. So, for slower drives, it will not be applicable. The
speed of the higher engine is reduced by transmission, which increases the
torque.
Transmissions can also be used in fixed machines,
pedal bicycles and other vehicles that make use of torques and rotational
speed. Often, transmissions come with varied gear ratios. They are also endowed
with the potential of switching the gear ratios based on the speed of the
vehicle. One can do this switching either automatically or manually.
Directional control is another feature. There is also single-ratio transmission for commercial vehicles. This
simply alters the motor output’s torque and speed. In motor vehicles, the
connection between a transmission and the engine crankshaft is done with the
help of a clutch or flywheel.
