The powertrain components are those
drive lines which include all the driving components of the vehicle along with
the prime mover. So powertrain includes the components which generate power and
deliver it to the wheels or other alternative parts. It includes Engine,
Clutch, Gear-box, Transmission shaft, and differential. Thus the powertrain
includes all the components that are used to convert fuel energy into kinetic
energy. In hybrid powertrain the elements like an electric motor, battery etc.
are also added to the powertrain components.
The powertrain components are explained in
short:
·
Automotive engine: The engine is the power generator
of the vehicle which converts fuel energy into mechanical energy. The engines
used are a diesel engine, petrol engine, and hybrid
engine.
·
Transmission: Transmission includes all the components that
are required to transfer power from the engine to wheels. It includes automatic
transmission, dual clutch transmission, manual transmission and semi-automatic
transmission. The clutch, gearbox, transmission shaft,
differential and rear axle falls in this category.
·
Wheels and tires: It includes the assembly of wheel and
tire.
·
Hybrid: This includes the other power generator
required to drive the vehicle.
These components work to reduce the high
speed of rotation generated by the engine in order to increase torque and
provide high starting acceleration.
Summary: -
The powertrain components include all those parts which generate power and
transfer it to the wheel. It includes all those components which are needed to
convert chemical energy into effective kinetic energy.
