The spur gear
is one of the types of equipment which is used for transmission. Gears and shafts both are of equally
important and have different working.
Both are used in the transfer of vehicles. Gear
can be classified as a rotating machine which has teeth cut around cylindrical
or cone surfaced and had equal spacing. Shaft position also helps in the
classification of Gear such as shaft gears and non-intersecting shaft gear. A
shaft is a machine which usually rotates in the circular motion. Pulley and
gear are fixed on the pole for its working.
Different types of gears and shafts are available in the market according to the need.
The spur gear is the cylindrical gear and belongs to the category of parallel
shaft gear. It is one of the most commonly used because of its accuracy and
natural production. Spur gear has advantages and disadvantages both.
ADVANTAGES
AND APPLICATION
The most important factor of this gear is the
transmission efficiency. It is known for its high power transmission
efficiency. Apparatus is compact and easy to install. The reliability factor is
high and due to its high-reliability factor this the commonly used. Spur gear
has no slip.
It has many applications or is used for
various purposes. Used in the washing machine, in fuel pumps, water plants,
They are often used in the marine engine. In mills, they are also used, like in
rolling mills. So like this, it has numerous use.
DISADVANTAGES
Spur gears are
costly when compared to others in the market. They make a lot of noise and
cannot be used for long distance transmission. All these are the backlogs which
this gear has, but advantages made this famous.
Gears and shafts have broad application, and with time they are getting more
advanced by adopting new technology.
