If you have ever wondered how an automatic transmission
works, it is because of the transmission components. A modern transmission consists of many systems and components
that are designed in a manner which helps in working together in a symphony of
clever hydraulic, mechanical and electrical technology. This has evolved over
the past few years into what most of the people have considered it to be a form
of art. There are many transmission components manufacturers who are responsible for the manufacturing of these
important components.
The main components that are included in a transmission
system are as follows.
·
A planetary
gear set
These planetary gear sets are part of the mechanical systems
that are responsible for providing various reverse as well as forward gear
ratios.
·
A hydraulic
system
This component uses a very special transmission fluid that is
sent under a lot of pressure. This is done by using an oil pump through the
valve body in order to control the clutches as well as the bands. This helps in
controlling the planetary gear sets.
·
The seals
and gaskets
The seals and gaskets are used to keep oil in the place where
it is supposed to be placed. It will help in preventing any leakages.
·
A torque
converter
A torque converter acts like a clutch that allows the vehicle
to come to a complete stop while in gear. This can be done even when the engine
is still in the running process.
·
A modulator
and a governor
A governor and modulator or a throttle cable monitor speed is
responsible for determining when to cause the shift.
·
Computer
A computer is responsible for controlling the shift points on
the brand new vehicles and also directs the electrical solenoids in order to
shift the flow of oil to an appropriate Transmission component. The important thing here is
everything must be done at the right time.
