Why and How to Take Care of Your Car’s Transmission?

The car gearbox is what decides the real performance of your car. Taking proper care is important for the long-term maintenance of your vehicle. But in most cases, car owners often misunderstand the part of gearbox maintenance.

  • After regular intervals of time, changing transmission fluid is important for the smooth running of your car.
  • Maintenance of both Automatic Transmissions and manual transmission may vary.
  • DIY exercise may not be advised to seek help from a professional car mechanic for the best results.

Changing transmission fluids

This factor is important if you want to use your car smoothly for many years. If you are using an automated transmission gearbox then you have to perform this task once the mileage meter reaches a few thousand kilometres.

The mileage count may vary if you are driving an old model of the car. New model vehicles may not need maintenance very often.

Regular inspections

This part is true for both old and new cars. Regular inspection can assure that there are no damaged parts inside the transmission box. If you drive Automatic Transmissions vehicle then it is more prone to wear and tear.

In general, complete inspection of internal parts of the gearbox should be performed ones your car has covered a few thousand kilometres.

Check for leaks

All internal and functional parts of the gearbox are well protected against leakage. But since your car is constantly exposed to all types of terrain conditions so leakages may develop after some time. If you drive Automatic Transmissions car then leakages can badly affect the overall performance of your car.

If any leakages found then it has to be stopped immediately before it gets too severe.

You have to keep in mind that the fluid used in the gearbox will help in maintaining a low temperature for all internal components. If the fluid is not in top condition then your car could easily get overheated when running.
