Types of Car Powertrain
The front wheel drive and the rear wheel drive are the two types
of setups present in a powertrain components. Along with bearing a hub, the drive shafts
move to the front wheels and a horizontally opposed engine is born by the front
wheel drive.
If it is talked about the rear wheel drive setup of powertrain components,
the transmission is placed behind the engine and the front of the car is faced
by the engine.
Function of Car Powertrain
The main function of the powertrain components in the car is to provide
power to the car. The Engine makes the power and then with the help of
transmission transfers it to the driveshaft. The axles and finally the wheels
are turned in the driveshaft in a wheel drive car.
Features of Car Powertrains
Powertrain components warranty includes the sensors but these sensors do
not provide direct power to the vehicle. They just provide input and output to
and from the PCM. The computer information is sent by some of the sensors to
the output sensors. All of these work all-together to give smooth, efficient,
and clean run by the car.
Summary: So by the above article it can be concluded that the transmission,
engine, driveshaft are the Powertrain Components in the powertrain of the car. ECM (Electric
Control Module) has a function of powertrain management and it may be also
called as the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) depending on the car. The inputs
are generated in the PCM and ECM through the sensors and the output is also
sent through other sensors.
